Custom Text (and shapes!)

Add personalized text to a photo using our computerized pen tool. Names, dates or a meaningful quote that will make your photo memories even more special. No more having to write the details on the back. Display them right on the front for a permanent reminder.

We have different style pens and markers in multiple colors to choose from. There are also several fonts.

This mat also utilizes our cutart shapes and v-groove to make a bow. You can add your own shape using these tools. More about these options below.

More About the Pen Tool

The computerized pen tool can write or draw pretty much anything a hand can (just a lot more steady.) Great for adding custom borders and other decorative embellishments.

Lettermats

The pen tool isn't the only way to add text to your mat. Letters can also be cut, pressed or "etched". Here are some examples:

The "Adam" mat is a photo font. The letters are cut large enough to place a photo behind each one.

The "Ashley" mat is cut into a double mat.

"Jane Smith" is done using our debossing tool (more about that below.)

"James" is done using a V-Groove creating an etched look.

"2024" is our pen tool again.

The Debossing Tool

The debosser presses into the mat creating an imprint for a much more subtle effect than the pen tool or the cutting blade. This tool can do anything the pen tool can. It can write and draw for text, shapes and decorative borders. The debosser can adjust to thin, medium or wide depending on how much you want it to stand out.

V-Grooves

V-Grooves use the cutting blade to cut into the mat without cutting through, exposing the white core. This is commonly used for borders like this example, but can also be used for text and shapes. Unlike the pen and debossing tool, there are size limitations for curved lines since it doesn't have as small a turning radius, but this is still a powerful customization option.

Vinyl Tool

You can also add little embellishments with vinyl. The vinyl tool can cut text, shapes and border details. This is a great way to add little gold or silver touches, but several color options are available. We can also cut standalone vinyl decals up to 40x60 inches!
